Our first Celtic Gods Candle is The Morrigan!

The Morrigan is a mighty goddess, and even though, at times, working with her can be frightening, she should not be feared. This misunderstood Celtic goddess will make incredible changes to your life—changes that you thought would never occur outside your fantasies. She does not do anything for free, though! She will make you work for what you want. In order to transform, you must crawl out of the quicksand that is keeping your life stagnant. This Dark Goddess will make you look at the parts of yourself you have buried deep from shame; she will teach you battle strategies, then thrust you into the ring to fight your demons; she will make you face and conquer all of your fears. She does what she has to so change can manifest in your life.

According to lore The Morrigan was involved in two major Irish wars. She helped the Tuatha Dé Danann defeat the Fir Bolg and the Fomorians. She won the wars by either weakening or killing the opposing king or with magic, making it rain fire and blood onto the enemy.

More accurately, she is the goddess of sovereignty. She was the patroness of those who wielded power, of kingship and prowess on the battlefield.

She is the goddess of magic and fertility as well. She used her magical powers to either instil courage or take it away. It was said that she would shapeshift into a crow and fly over the battlefield. Some men would be empowered with courage, and others would be plagued with panic and fear. The Morrigan specialized in binding magic, which means she would strip the enemy of his power. She would do that at a key moment in the battle, leaving him helpless. The Morrigan’s confidence radiates through history, along with her strength, power, and shameless sexuality.

Working with The Morrigan can bring about real change in your life!

Snowflake Obsidian is said to purify and ground body, soul and aura. It centres and focuses attention, which can be really useful in chaotic or stressful environments. The black of the obsidian and the white of the snowflakes represent the balancing of dark and light, and this stone is known to be a bringer of balance between two opposing sides.  Snowflake obsidian is a very healing stone and its powerful magnetism brings feelings to the surface that have been pushed down and repressed. Once these feelings arise, they can then be faced and the work can be done to resolve hidden issues and wounds.  This is the PERFECT crystal for The Morrigan!  A powerful candle for a powerful Goddess!  Start your year off with the power and strength of this Warrior Goddess and the energy of a highly protective and transforming crystal.

The oil I have used is a blend of Magnolia Petal, Violet Leaf, Golden Patchouli, Casablanca Lily, Oak Moss, Mysore Sandalwood, Crystallized Amber and Vetiver.

Lets break it down to see why I have used these oils:

Vetiver: Improves alertness.

Magnolia Petal: bring balance, harmony and peace within

Violet LeafCalms the nerves, draws prophetic dreams and visions, stimulates creativity, and promotes peace & tranquillity. Violet leaf provides protection from all evil. Used for love and romance work and to heal a broken heart.

Patchouli: helps to call in the earth element, thereby healing the root chakra and providing a sense of groundedness. Professional herbalists and aromatherapists even prescribe this essential oil for those entrenched in fear (the number-one symptom of an unhealed root chakra).

Mysore Sandalwood: This particular sandalwood is believed to have strong spiritual properties. Said to bring people closer to the divine, inciting calmness and clearing the mind.

Oakmoss: Oakmoss can be used to attune to the spirit of the forest and the Gods of nature. It is grounding and sensual in an earthy sort of way.

Casablanca Lilly: harmonizes the relationship of chakra two with other chakras; for developing spiritual trust.

Amber: help absorb negative energy and to release bright, soothing energy, helping to calm nerves and enliven disposition like a mental sunny day.
